Introduction

Pacman is a free browser recreation of the 1980 arcade maze-chase, built in Godot by developer jai1li. The opening board follows the layout players of the original will recognise, but that is only the starting point: from the second level onward, each maze is assembled as it loads, so the route through the dots is different every time. Generated boards are symmetrical, avoid dead ends, keep the ghost house and side tunnel in their familiar places, and always include four power pellets. Each new maze also arrives in a fresh colour, which makes progress easy to read at a glance. The four ghosts are not random wanderers. Blinky comes straight for the player, Pinky targets a spot four tiles ahead (with the original quirk that misdirects her when the player faces upward), Inky combines Blinky's position with the player's to set up intercepts, and Clyde gives chase until he is close before peeling away toward his corner. Their scatter and chase phases follow the arcade timing, they leave the house according to the original dot counts, and Blinky picks up speed as a board is cleared. Visually it stays in 2D pixel art with a retro feel, so it should sit comfortably with anyone who likes arcade-era presentation. The mix of a faithful first board and endless fresh mazes gives the classic formula a reason to be replayed.
